On May 21, and again on June 17, at Fort Belvoir, VA, Chef Nick of The Colonel’s Kitchen organized culinary training to support our Wounded Warriors, disabled Veterans, First Responders, and their families through the power of food and hospitality. ACF-NCCA President Chef Steve Ryder and his wife, Carla Ryder, joined and supported this meaningful gathering.

Held at Barrel & Bushel in Tysons, VA, on June 15, the meeting brought chapter members together for an evening of real connection. ACF education and the apprenticeship program were on the table, along with healthy ingredients, yogurt, and kefir, and the group discussed taking exams and finding certified kitchens. We were glad to meet with Chef Daron Lee and his team.

OUTREACH-Farm-to-Table at Agricultural History Farm Park

On May 15, Board Member and Secretary Deniz Orhun and President Steve Ryder opened a booth at the Agricultural History Farm Park in Derwood, MD, connecting local agriculture with the chapter’s kitchens. The farm-to-table session — featuring tea gardening and local herbal teas — was part of the Agricultural Education Tailgate organized by the Montgomery County Department of Parks and the Agricultural History Farm Park.

OUTREACH-Building Ties with Club Managers

On May 4, the chapter connected with the Middle Atlantic Chapter of the Club Management Association of America, an outreach exchange strengthening ties across the region’s hospitality community.

SOCIAL GATHERING-Spring Social on the Green

The chapter’s spring social took members to Bristow Manor Golf Club in Bristow, Virginia, on April 20 — an afternoon of golf and good company ahead of a full network season.
